Rabbi Sara Berman is ordained by the University of Judaism (Conservative) and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. from University of California Santa Cruz. She is a member of the National Association of Jewish Chaplains and the Rabbinical Assembly and is in the process of becoming a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. As a hospice chaplain, she understands the loss of a loved one is an emotional and difficult time, but she also knows it a a holy time. She has guided many people, of all faiths and denominations, through this journey and has helped make these moments easier for them. As a mother she knows how fleeting moments can be and has created rituals for her own two children to mark those special times. She developed a weaning ceremony for her children and created a ceremony for her son's first haircut (based on tradition Jewish idea of "upshernish"). In addition, she has imbued other events in her children's life with spirituality and prayers. Rabbi Sara Berman recognizes the beauty inherent in Jewish tradition as manifested through its myriad of meaningful rituals and symbols. In creating a personalized ritual for you, she will incorporate those traditional ideas and values with your own vision to make your event a truly Sacred Moment!
